Give wild animals their space
Your presence exerts pressure on them. They're responding to you whether you know it or not. They hear you, they smell you, they see you, often before you hear or see them.
For example, give deer and prairie chickens twenty-five yards; on the other hand, give black bears and wolves one hundred yards - the length of a football field.
Some species like raptors, and ground-nesting birds are more sensitive to humans. Some may leave safe habitats and move to more dangerous areas.
Speaking of wild animals
Most people are familiar with the University of Colorado mascot Ralphie the Buffalo. Not all know this is Ralphie VI, and is a female named Ember. It takes a budget of $25,000 for feed, handlers' uniforms, and travel to selected sports events.
