Look at the expression on a college student's face when you mention a slide-rule.
Try to explain who Huntley and Brinkley were and furthermore we only saw them in black and white.
I tell youngsters that I taught their grandparents when grandmother and grandfather were in junior high and I was a student teacher trying to graduate from college. ~G. Eldon Smith

Two Miles High and Six Feet Under
A tale from 1890s Leadville, Colorado that has many historical facts along with mystery, excitement, romance, and humor (mostly mystery). Available at Amazon, and fine book stores everywhere.
Mountain Lions
The reason we are writing about Mountain Lions this week is that recently one was spotted in the suburb where we live. It is not out in the country or a place with large estates. Just a common 'burb. There is a channel running through town that is a place where wildlife can navigate through residential neighborhoods without being seen. Coyotes, foxes, deer, beavers and rarely a bear come to town.
Mountain Lions are seen more often in Boulder, although they visit the towns all along the Front Range, Longmont (sleeping in a garage,) Loveland, and Fort Collins. The one reported in Centennial appeared to have a rabbit or kitten in its mouth. Lions generally will be most abundant in areas with plentiful deer.
Generally Mountain Lions don't trust humans and stay away from human contact, but lions seem to be becoming bolder. Even at that, according to Colorado Wildlife Service there have been only 22 mountain lion attacks in Colorado since 1990. If you see a mountain lion, do not try to run away and don't approach it. Throw things, make noise, wave your arms and stand your ground.

Last Words
“Nonviolence is absolute commitment to the way of love. Love is not emotional bash; it is not empty sentimentalism. It is the active outpouring of one’s whole being into the being of another.”
~Martin Luther King Jr.
