Opalanga Pugh: African-American Storyteller from Colorado
was a native of Denver, Colorado. She was a storyteller in the African oral tradition. Many of her stories came from her travels in Africa. Others were classic tales of the African-American experience. In 1975, Pugh received her B.S. degree in communication studies from the University of Wisconsin. Her senior year, as an undergraduate student, she studied at the Imo University of Lagos in Nigeria. In 1975,
Pugh made presentations at thousands of schools in thirty-seven states across the country and over 500 corporations and nonprofit organizations. Her work took her across the world. She shared and collected stories, and hosted events and ceremonies in the United States, Canada, Europe, West Africa, and the Caribbean.

Colorado Olympians
Colorado has sent 29 athletes to the Winter Olympic 2022. The group includes:Alpine Skiing,
Biathlon, Bobsled, Cross-Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Nordic Combined, Skeleton, and Snowboarding.
Men and Women from all over the state representing such big winter sports areas as Aspen, Crested Butte, Winter Park, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, and Telluriide. Also from cities and town where one would not think of winter sports: Denver, Grand Junction, Colorado Springs, Monument,, Basalt, Littleton, Boulder, Norwood, and Golden.
Women on the team. The most famous is, Mikaela Shiffrin. The bravest, Nicole Hensley the goaltender on the women's hockey team.(pucks coming at you at 90 miles an hour) Others with surprising specialties, Joanne Reid competing in Biathlon, and Sylvia Hoffman the brakeman on the Bobsled. Altogether Ten determined and dedicated women from Colorado. Don't forget the nineteen men who are doing their best and then some.

We applaud all the athletes, even those who did not win any medals. Just making the team means they are more accomplished at their sports than 99.9% of the rest of the world.
