Gray Wolves
Gray Wolves are making a slow comeback from years and decades of being hunted, poisoned, and hated by ranchers. The recovery has been based on Federal Laws that protected the wolves. In the last few months of the last administration the laws were lifted.
Wolves are missing from the majority of their previous range. With the legal help from conversational groups favoring the gray wolves are campaigning for limiting state regulation which often involves in trophy hunting and declining wolf populations.
The Colorado Wildlife Service position of reintroducing wolves to the state was stated in an official website.
"With Colorado voters electing to reintroduce additional wolves to the state, our team of biologists, researchers, wildlife officers and other staff will work with stakeholders statewide to create a plan that provides the best chance for the species to thrive in Colorado. This planning will factor in the best available science regarding habitat, prey availability, and will include input from the public and key stakeholders."
