Winter Prospects
La Nina is a cold water event that happen over the Pacific Ocean and dictates the path of the jet stream. This winter's La Nina is a small cold water event which tends to force the jet stream north. La Nina along the front range of the Rocky Mountains means high winds, which we have already experienced with 100 mph winds in Boulder County. The wind contributed to the Marshall Fire a few weeks back. The strongest wind recorded in Colorado was at Monarch Pass 148 mph, February 2016.
On the other end, Chinooks are warm winds that get warmer when going from West to East. They are called "Snow Eater" winds because of their high temperatures.
All signs point to dry winds and below average snow fall in the eastern, flat part of Colorado. The mountains will be about average with a few high dumps. Nobody knows about the southwest because the La Nina will guide the storms further north.

The U.S. government has not done anything to minimize the 240 million live animals and fish imported annually in this country. The U.S. accounts for almost 25% of the global wildlife market. There is a movement headed by the Center for Biological Diversity to support the diversity in the wildlife gene pools and improve human health.
