Quotes
“Boys should abstain from all use of wine until their eighteenth year, for it is wrong to add fire to fire.” ~Plato
“Doctor says to a man, ‘You’re pregnant!’ The man says, ‘How does a man get pregnant?’ The doctor says, ‘The usual way, a little wine, a little dinner….'” ~Henny Youngman
“Give me a bowl of wine. I have not that alacrity of spirit nor cheer of mind that I was wont to have.”

“White wine is like electricity. Red wine looks and tastes like a liquified beefsteak.” ~James Joyce
Colorado Wine Industry
Colorado Wine Industry Development Board has selected 18 wines in various classes for special recognition. The Governor's Cup is a state-wide competition which salutes excellence in a rapidly growing industry. There are 143 wineries and 120 farmers and hobbyists growing grapes. The Grand Junction area seems to be the most popular part of the state for raising grapes. On the other hand, the 18 winners come from all over the state: Boulder, Palisade, Ignacio, Denver, Estes Park, in addition to Grand Junction.
The Colorado wines do not compare with the California wines in reputation or volume, but the Colorado wine industry has tripled since 2005 and provides 1,600 jobs, and according to the Colorado State University's Department of Agricultural Economics, $150 million in economic impact. All of this with a governor who owned a brewpub and promoted craft beers. Colorado ranks third in the production of craft beer. The wine industry hopes Governor Hickenlooper's support will do the same for wine production.

The Colorado athletes listed are our choices for having a good chance to win gold in their sports. (We've been wrong before.) This is only a partial list of the 23 Olympians with Colorado connections. All of them have the talent and ability to medal in their competitions. And we hope they do.
