Summer is Here

My able assistant, Miss Diane, (aka Ms. Smith) went to her Yokel Family Reunion last week. German Jockel is pronounced to sound like Yokel. A government employee at Ellis Island made a mistake (what is new about that) and wrote Yokel and Yokel it has been ever since. Please don't send your yokel jokes. We have heard them all!
About 40 people attended the reunion at McCormick's Creek State Park in Indiana. Forty is a small number of decendents from the original family of eleven siblings who started the reuion.
On the flight from Inianapois to Denver, Miss Diane met a young lady named Nea Roses from Elizabeth, CO, a small rual/suburban community near Denver. Nea sells
Lia Sophia Jewelry from her home (720)579-8568, shop online when she gets her website up and running. She will plug Murder in the Rockies in exchange for a mention of her Lia Sophia Jewelry business here.
Excerpt from Murder in the Rockies
The little buggy made its way up the winding road until Coyle could say at last that he had left the foothills and actually made it to the mountains. He set his broad-brimmed hat on the seat next to him and let the wind blow through his hair. The old mare was working hard going uphill, so Coyle stopped and stepped down from the buggy seat to walk alongside the horse.
Clear Creek had carved a narrow canyon through solid rock, leaving almost perpendicular walls on either side. Coyle looked up at the towering granite towers. Some rose to 50, 100, even 200 feet above the canyon floor. The creek itself had a large amount of water because of the spring runoff from the snowmelt. That day the creek, which was normally clear and dazzling, looked brown and murky because of the rain the night before. The water crashing against the boulders made a constant roar. At a flat and accessible spot Coyle led the mare to the creek so she could get a drink while he scooped up a handful of water for himself. The icy cold water had been part of a glacier hours before and now it gurgled and giggled at the freedom the summer sun had granted. Freedom to charge down the canyon.

Waiting for a decision from a North Denver bookstore about having a book signing there. Look for an announcement here.
If you belong to a book club or knows somebody that belongs to a book club, I will be glad to come to the meeting and discuss/sign copies of Murder in the Rockies for local clubs. Leave a message and contact information in the "Comments" section below.
