If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it. ~ Andy Rooney
Fun Weekend, Now it is Monday
Saturday evening I persuaded my wife to go with me to a hockey game. Not the Avalanche, popular and expensive tickets. Instead we attended a minor league game featuring the Denver Cutthroats at the Fish Bowl (aka Denver Coliseum.) Cutthroat is a species of trout native to Colorado. The cheer is "Go Fish" and the team mascot, Gil is dressed like a fish and everything relating to the team including the uniforms has a fish theme.
When the Cutthroats score a goal, a woman with a Cutthroat flag leads all the children in the audience in the Running of the Guppies. What a hoot. There must have been a thousand "Guppies" circling the arena, Some of the smaller Guppies were accompanied by parents. Eventually most all of the kids found their way back to their parents and their seats.
The Cutthroats won the game we saw. They scored the tying goal with 3.8 seconds left in regulation. The Guppies ran and the crowd went wild. The two teams played a scoreless five minute overtime, The Cutthroats scored two goals to none in the Shootout. Final score 7-5 for the fish. What an exciting ending!
On Sunday afternoon, we went to a concert presented by the Colorado Ragtime Association. An excellent pianist named Scott Kirby played some wicked ragtime music. He made the concert educational by explaining the difference between Ragtime and the Blues. Kirby played samples of each. He also gave a little history of each song or composer as an introduction to the pieces he played. The emphasis was music, music, and wow what music. Do you know what synchronized rhythm is in music such a ragtime?
Now it is Monday and back to work. I am still working on Two Miles High and Six Feet Under a second Andrew Coyle mystery. Several readers of the first mystery, Murder in the Rockies have ask for another.
Events
Saint Andrew United Methodist youth are holding a fund raising Youth Auction in April. One of the items to be auctioned will be an autographed copy of Murder in the Rockies.
In April we have also be selected to be one of a group of authors in a group book signing at the Englewood Public Library.
